Hey everyone! As some of you may know, I am a Fedora contributor as part of the Infrastructure, Data and Join teams. This election term, I decided to run for a position in the Fedora Council.

Switching email providers, again

Renewal time. That’s usually when I start questioning my life choices, at least the email-related ones.

I’ve been a Tuta user for almost a year now. However, there are some things that have been bugging me, and since I have to decide soon anyway, I think it’s a good time now to look back and reassess.

Background

Before we dive in, some context - I switched from Gmail to Tuta in April of 2025. Then, I was choosing between Proton, Tuta, Fastmail, Mailfence and Zoho. Some (like Zoho and Fastmail) aren’t hosted in countries that respect my privacy, so I crossed them off. At the end, I was choosing between Tuta and Proton (and ultimately chose Tuta).

Setting up SSO on all of my self-hosted services

Recently, my mom came up to me, she forgot her NextCloud password again. It’s not a problem, just jump into the admin user, and reset the password. But that got me thinking, would it be possible to set up an SSO, so everyone would just have one password and account for all of my self-hosted services?

Motivation

Apart from the already mentioned password problem, there are a few more things.

Offloading processes to NVidia GPU on Fedora

NVidia on Linux, it always was, and still is a pain sometimes, especially on laptops with a dual-GPU setup. Although the situation is getting better, it still isn’t perfect.

Motivation

For a long time, I was switching between the integrated Intel GPU and dedicated NVidia GPU manually, which wasn’t ideal, but also required a re-login every time. But, the solution was right there!

Setup

The official drivers for NVidia GPUs allow offloading, that means that your DE and every app you launch gets run on the integrated GPU by default, however, you can export some enviroment variables to run the process on the dedicated GPU. This means that you need to have the official drivers installed on your system, please follow this guide for installation instructions.

Moving away from Gmail

Google’s constant “harassment”

Pretty much from the day i hit around 10 gigs used on my Google account, Google was constantly harrasing me and telling me to buy more storage. It even got to the point that they were telling me that they will stop getting my emails if I don’t pay! (even tho i had enough storage).
